Daily
walks, the pleasant climate and the natural beauty of the
landscape enjoyed in the relaxed company of friends (perhaps
old or new), all adds up to a delightful few days in this
fabulous corner of France.
Bonjour
Languedoc's Walking holidays include daily half or full day
guided walks lead by experienced walkers who have a sound
knowledge and deep love of the area.
All the guided walks are graded as 'easy' to 'moderate',
covering a distance of up to 7 miles. However if you like a
more challenging or longer walk or would like to walk on
your own, you are welcome to do so and we have ample
information and maps to assist you.
In this region of intense wine production we are able to
experience a variety of terrain from the large flat valley
of the River Aude, the gentle stony uphill tracks of the
garrique covered in wild thyme, to steeper rocky gorges
where the local pink marble is quarried. There are many
tracks and routes, some through forests and vineyards, some
through local medieval villages where the houses are huddled
together and characterised by their terracotta roof tiles.
Apart from walking there will be the opportunity to
incorporate some other activities into your holiday should
you so wish, such as cycling along the banks of the canal du
Midi, taking part in art workshops, a barge trip along the
canal or joining in at a local fete. We
would be delighted to organise this for you.
For a more relaxed ambience we deliberately keep our groups
small - up to only 8 guests at a time.
In 2011 we will be offering two choices of accommodation for
guests on our walking holidays.
For our June and October holidays accommodation will be
in local village houses.
Accommodation in local village houses full of
charm where you can be sure of a comfortable bed and a good
shower.
In order to price our holidays competitively and to give our
clients more experience of the French way of life, we
organise these holidays on a informal 'house party' basis. We
provide breakfast each morning, while our guests will make
their own packed lunches and take turns to shop for and cook
the evening meal together.
For the September holiday, accommodation will be at the
Sous L'Oliviers,
a centrally located guesthouse within the village of Trausse Minervois.
